Dungeons and Dragons • 4th Edition

Eivo ~ Aug. 30th 2007
No need for a Sense Motive check, I'm not lying. Don't believe me, check it out for yourself. Here's the teaser trailer...

4th Edition Players Handbook hits shelves May 2008, the Monster Manual in June 2008, and the Dungeon Masters Guide in July 2008. It seem that 4th edition takes advantage of the internet also, for both good and evil. Here is the presentation in parts one, two, three, and four.

---Spoiler---

Here are some highlights from the presentation.

  • Every 4th edition book comes with a code that lets you download an electronic version of the product.

  • Software that can be used to play D&D across the Internet.

  • Level 1 - 30 are now in the Core Rules, making "Epic" levels standard.

  • Still d20 based, but more "Simplified". No more games grinding to a halt because someone needs to look up how grapple works.

  • They mentioned that DnDInsider.com, (the internet part of 4th edition) will have a subscription fee.

The announcement has seemed to meet mixed reactions. I guess we can only wait and see what developments come out between now and May.
